Local context
Cardiff’s height safety estate centres on the Welsh Government and public sector portfolio, the Cardiff Bay regeneration zone, the city centre commercial estate, and the universities and NHS sites. The Senedd, the Welsh Government estate at Cathays Park, and the broader public sector portfolio across Cardiff Council and the surrounding unitary authorities together represent one of the largest single public estates in the country. Cardiff Bay (including the former docks area, the Wales Millennium Centre, and the surrounding mixed-use development) has been substantially regenerated since 2000 and contains current-standard anchor systems. The Principality Stadium and the surrounding sporting and event infrastructure add a large-footprint event venue portfolio.
Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and the University of South Wales together operate substantial campuses. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board operates the principal NHS estate. The Cardiff International Pool (where we have completed past project work) is one example of the leisure facility estate across the city. Engineers cover Cardiff from our Shaftesbury head office, with the M4 keeping travel times competitive.
